Creative process statement:

This piece offers a glimpse into the ongoing story of Southeast LA, one deeply rooted in its people and distinct culture. Here, we are witness to a community that persistently adapts to and challenges our circumstances and structures in order to pave new avenues for self-determination as a region, day by day. From the smallest acts of resistance and joy to the grandest interventions, it is the people of Southeast LA who shape this region's essence.

As such, this piece reflects the unique ways we engage with our cities, both individually and as a part of a broader, interconnected community bound by solidarity. It captures scenes of our everyday life that keep us grounded amidst our circumstances. It also centers the grassroot collectives and community organizing that chart new paths for ourselves and generations to come in Southeast LA.
