Maria: Se trata de dos personas [Narciso y Goldmundo] que eran muy amigos y uno decide irse al convento para ser, no sé si sacerdote o nada más monje, y el otro decide aventurar en la vida. Entonces [Goldmundo] habla de experiencias que tiene la vida, y al correr de los años, se encuentra a su amigo Narciso, ahí y en el convento. Entonces comparten experiencias, no me acuerdo del final del libro, pero cuando [Goldmundo] está describiendo lo que vive, de sus aventuras, lo describe muy poéticamente y me encanto, me gustó mucho el libro.
Alma: Ay qué bonito.
Maria: Sí, está bonito.
Alma: Y sabe cúando publicaron el libro?
Maria: No, no te sé decir. Pero estos libros mi hijo me ha hecho el favor de traérmelos. Me los presta y yo los leo y me han gustado mucho.
Alma: So, su hijo se lo prestó–
Maria: Sí.
Alma: A mí me gusta eso, que los hijos [les] presten [sus] libros a sus papás.
Maria: Y como él sabe que me interesa leer en inglés – me gusta leer en inglés para aprender más – entonces me dice, “ma, le voy a traer un libro de este autor” y ya me explica y me dice. Pero, sí, me gustó mucho.
Anita: Ese libro [Nariciso y Goldmundo] salió en 1930.
Alma: ¡Wow, casi cien años!
Maria: Pero es muy interesante, cuando puedan leerlo.

Maria: It’s about two good friends (Narcissus and Goldmund). One decides to go to the seminary to be a priest or a monk. I’m not sure. And the other decides to live life as an adventurer. So (Goldmund) talks about his life experiences and as the years pass, he runs into his friend, Narcissus, right there in the convent. They share their experiences, I don’t remember the end of the book, but when (Goldmund) is describing what he has lived, his adventures, he describes it very poetically, I really liked the book.
Alma: Oh, how nice.
Maria: Yes, it is very nice.
Alma: Do you know when the book was published?
Maria: No, I couldn’t tell you. But my son has let me borrow those books and has done me the favor of bringing them to me. He lets me borrow them and I read them, and I’ve really liked them.
Alma: So, your son let you borrow it?
Maria: Yes.
Alma: I like that, that children lend their parents books.
Maria: And since he knows that I’m interested in reading in English – I like to read in English to learn more – so he tells me, “Mom, I’m going to bring you a book by this author” and then he explains and talks to me about it. But yes, I really liked it.
Anita: That book (Narcissus and Goldmund) came out in 1930.
Alma: Wow! Almost 100 years ago!
Maria: But it’s very interesting. Read it when you can.
