Quitxia: My favorite book is Catcher in the Rye and it became my favorite book in, I think, 9th grade, when I wasn’t really motivated to do much of my school work. Then one of our assignments was to pick a banned book and so I chose the Catcher in the Rye. I had heard it was a classic and I really want to study English so, I was like, I might as well read it. I ended up falling in love with it and a part of me connected to Holden*, in the sense that he kind of didn’t want to grow up yet. He wasn’t really prepared for it and it really helped me have closure with that and realize that whether I want it or not, I am going to have to accept that. Instead of fighting it like Holden, I should embrace it.

Quitxia: Mi libro preferido es El guardian entre el centeno. Lo consideré mi libro preferido, creo que fue en noveno grado cuando en realidad no estaba tan motivada para hacer tarea. Después, una de nuestras tareas fue escoger un libro prohibido así que escogí El guardian entre el centeno. Escuché que era un libro clásico y realmente quisiera estudiar inglés y pues decidí leerlo. Terminé enamorándome del libro y en parte me relacionaba con Holden* ya que él no quería crecer. Él no estaba preparado para ello y me ayudó a centrarme. Me di cuenta de que quiera o no, tendré que aceptarlo. En vez de pelearlo como Holden, debo aceptarlo.
